Co-curricular clubs Spring Term 2023-24

Sports Club Timetable - Spring 2023-24

Arden maintains a broad range of exciting and enriching co-curricular activities that are ideal for both talented pupils wishing to maximise their development and for youngsters who simply wish to take part in an activity they enjoy.

Competitions

Depending on the activity, sports teams are entered into a range of local (Solihull Borough), regional (West Midlands/Midlands) and national competitions. Fixtures take place either after school and some Saturday mornings for selected activities.

School Club Links

Arden has very strong links with a number of local clubs, coaches, facilities and providers in the majority of sports and activities offered. On-site sporting facilities for co-curricular activities include:

  • Sports Hall
  • Gymnasium
  • Full size Astro-turf Pitch
  • Playing Field
  • Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA)

Arden Charity Work

Pupils are encouraged to consider the needs of the community at large while they are members of Arden. Charities have benefitted to the tune of many thousands of pounds due to the enterprise and generosity of pupils, parents and staff. Recent fund raising days have raised money for Children in Need, Orchid Cancer Research, Samaritans Purse and LEPRA.

Music

There is a comprehensive musical activity at Arden; school choirs, wind bands, orchestras and a jazz band. Most rehearsals are held at lunchtime and before school, occasionally pupils are asked to attend after school. Arden is one of Solihull's Music 'Centres' and there are visiting string, woodwind, brass, percussion and guitar teachers who will train and enter candidates for external music exams. This takes place in the early evenings after school. The school holds regular concerts. The Department runs various trips to workshops and professional music concerts.

Drama

Drama continues to provide our pupils with opportunities to get involved with a variety of dramatic activities. The school aims to mount a major production every year as well as regular workshops as part of GCSE courses. Other projects include public performances by Upper School option groups including visits to our feeder schools. The school also runs regular trips to see the best theatre available both locally and nationally as well as maintaining a policy of inviting educational drama groups to perform at Arden.

School Visits

Apart from running many day and evening trips which greatly enrich the quality of education at Arden, there are important residential visits which take place every year. These are valued not only for their academic content but are also seen as an integral part of the Academy's social and personal development programme. Regular overseas residential visits are the annual ski trip, while the Language Department organises annual residential visits to France and Germany. Pupils also participate in pupil exchanges to Germany which is part of a twinning arrangement with Albert Einstein School in Main-Taunus Kreis near Frankfurt.
