Travel and Tourism

BTEC Level 2 Award (equivalent to one GCSE)

This is a two year course that is linked to the Travel and Tourism Industry. The course is taught through units of work which are internally linked and externally verified, one unit. The 'UK Travel and Tourism sector' is an examination which is worth 25% of the overall grade. Overall, the course is designed to provide students with a specialist work-related qualification which is equally valued by potential employers and Colleges of Further Education. It could also prepare students for a career in the Travel & Tourism industry, the fastest growing industry in the UK. Students have the opportunity to develop skills throughout the course which are invaluable in the world of work.

  • UK Travel and Tourism Destinations
  • International Travel and Tourism Destinations
  • The Travel and Tourism Experience

 

How will I be assessed?

Each unit is separately assessed. Units are graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.

The course is designed to provide students with a specialist work-related qualification which is equally valued by potential employers and colleges of further education. It could prepare students for a career in the Travel & Tourism industry, the fastest growing industry in the UK. It is also an opportunity to develop the type of skills which are invaluable in the world of work.

You will study all forms of tourism and destinations within the UK such as; theme parks, seaside resorts, man-made and natural visitor attractions and major UK transport providers eg Virgin, British Airways.
