Sponsorship plea

Mr Kilbey, Head of Maths, is currently training to take part in this year's London Marathon on 22 April. He is running to raise money for a charity very close to his heart - Orchid.

This was a charity that gave him a huge amount of support when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2006. Mr Kilbey is hoping to raise £5000 through sponsorship to celebrate his five year all clear and would welcome any donations via http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/PKilbey

Formed in 1996 by a former testicular cancer patient, Orchid is the only UK registered cancer charity to focus entirely on the male-specific cancers; prostate, penile and testicular. The charity offers support and information to people affected by or interested in male cancer through a dedicated medical research programme, education and awareness campaigns and a range of support services. Over 37,400 men will be diagnosed with a male-specific cancer in 2012; from sons to grandfathers, all men face the risk of prostate, penile or testicular cancer and Orchid can offer support.

Orchid have developed many new services for men and their families; offering leaflets, specialist factsheets, a newsletter, an award winning DVD and an enquiry service supported by two Orchid Male Cancer Information Nurses; their aim is to support anyone affected by male cancer. The Orchid website has all the latest information www.orchid-cancer.org.uk

It really would make a huge difference to a small but very successful charity and will also make a difference to Mr Kilbey's motivation over the next couple of hundred training miles!
