The Howe Building

The building was named after a former Head of Science, Phil Howe.

His enthusiasm and love for science and teaching made a massive impact on the many pupils and staff that had the pleasure of learning from him and working with him. During his 40 years at Arden he inspired several generations of pupils and colleagues, touching the lives of all those he came into contact with.

Phil joined the school in 1969 as Head of PE, after 15 years he moved to the Science Department. It was here in this building that he finished his teaching career after 21 years as Head of Science.

He sadly died in June 2009 after almost 40 years at Arden School.

He was quite simply a legend.
