BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care

This course has been designed to provide education and training for Health and Social Care employees and students.

It gives students the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification. It can be used to gain employment in the Health and Social Care sector or to progress to achieve other vocational qualifications.

Students can develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes which can be used later in working life.

The course is suitable for students wishing to work in the health professions, within social care or working with children in the Early Years sector. It is also recognised by other service sectors.

The course consists of 3 units which are assessed by assignment tasks, all completed during the two-year course. There is an examination in the Human Lifespan development unit which is worth 40% of the overall grade which is sat in year 11.

Each unit is assessed on Pass, Merit and Distinction grades, with each grade having a points equivalent. The points then go forward to an overall final grade for the course which will be either; Pass, Merit or Distinction.
