National Success
Arden's KS3 badminton team successfully defended their National School title on Sunday 7 May at the National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes. A Badminton England initiative that is growing each year with over 8,000 schools taking part and 44,000 students. The team include three of Warwickshire's County members, Milly Evans, Mia Kirk and Tessa Franks. Also on the team was Francesca Barbieri, a member of Knowle Badminton Club. The girls succeeded in local, county and regional rounds to reach the final and the final was competed by nine schools, three groups of three teams. Arden went into the competition as a seeded school supported by their coach on the day, Mr Hunt. In their box the girls defeated Sheffield Girls High 5-0, followed by a more difficult draw against Kendrick School 3-2. The winners of each group then played against each other for the medal positions. Arden held their nerve with a 4-1 victory against Queen Elizabeths Academy Trust and a nail-biting 3-2 win for the gold medal over Chelmsford County High School.
Another fabulous day and an amazing achievement. Everyone at Arden is incredibly proud of the girls and their success.
