Key Stage 4

Business Studies is an optional subject in Years 10 and 11. Learners receive an average of 2.5 hours of lessons per week. We offer two options for study;

GCSE Business Studies
Business Studies at KS4 is extremely popular with an average of 90 students opting for it each year. The GCSE course is a traditional GCSE with exams in both Y10 & Y11. The course is also assessed using a Controlled Assessment in Y11.

This course follows the OCR Business Studies specification and offers the chance for students to study the theory of business as well as learning about business function such as Marketing, Finance and Human Resources.

BTEC First Certificate & Diploma in Business
The BTEC First Certificate is a practical work-related course. It is a good introduction to Business and gives students the opportunity to develop both the skills and knowledge required for success in any business.

A BTEC First Certificate is equivalent to 2 GCSEs grades A*-C, and a Diploma 4 GCSEs grades A* -C.
Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic, workplace situations, activities and demands. There are no examinations on this course.
