The Creative Arts and Technology Department is a vibrant, exciting and forward thinking department. There are seventeen dedicated and enthusiastic members of staff in the department, including teaching staff, technicians and the staff from Francesco Group. The Department is extremely busy with a large range of courses taking place at all levels
English at Arden is a core subject not only in name: it is the foundation of your child’s success in most other areas of study. We have worked hard to create a balanced curriculum which not only covers course requirements but also exposes your child to a wide range of literary and writing experiences.
The Humanities department is a lively, friendly and dynamic department which enjoys both excellent examination results and strong and positive staff-student relationships.
The ICT curriculum at Arden is both dynamic and stretching where pupils achieve highly. All pupils at Key Stage 3 undertake a full GCSE equivalent qualification (compulsory) and at Key Stage 4 the subject is optional. If pupils decide to opt for ICT they embark upon a further double award course which provides a clear pathway to Key Stage 5 if desired.

The Library is integral to the success of Arden as it helps pupils develop the skills required to access information efficiently and effectively and supports the ethos of creating independent learners.
This close and forward looking department consists of 15 specialists who teach most of the maths in the school in a suite of six classroom that are all equipped with interactive whiteboards. Post 16 teaching takes place in the sixth form block.
Arden's Modern Foreign Languages Department has much to offer each and every pupil throughout their time at the school.
Sport plays an integral part of school life and personal development for many Arden students. The opportunities to participate in school sport provides pupils with the opportunities to gain a passion for lifelong participation in exercise and sport as well as the important skills such as team work, commitment, leadership and discipline.
Drama lessons are taught in the purpose built Drama Studio, equipped with lighting and sound technology. There is a second studio and the school hall where rehearsals and productions are held.
Music is taught in a purpose-built Performing Arts block with two large teaching rooms and seven practice rooms. The Department also has a recording studio with a separate control room.
Dance at Arden offers a wealth of opportunity for development physically and technically and enhance the expressive skills necessary for effective performance in a range of dance styles.
In PSHE we aim to promote the highest standards of personal and interpersonal behaviour and contribute to offering the widest breadth of challenge and opportunity in a happy and caring environment. PSHE does not merely support the academic curriculum but has its own educative purpose supported by its own detailed schemes of work.
