English at Arden is a core subject not only in name: it is the foundation of your child’s success in most other areas of study. We have worked hard to create a balanced curriculum which not only covers course requirements but also exposes your child to a wide range of literary and writing experiences.
The Humanities department is a lively, friendly and dynamic department which enjoys both excellent examination results and strong and positive staff-student relationships.
The ICT curriculum at Arden is both dynamic and stretching where pupils achieve highly. All pupils at Key Stage 3 undertake a full GCSE equivalent qualification (compulsory) and at Key Stage 4 the subject is optional. If pupils decide to opt for ICT they embark upon a further double award course which provides a clear pathway to Key Stage 5 if desired.
This close and forward looking Department consists of 15 specialists who teach most of the maths in the school in a suite of six classroom that are all equipped with interactive whiteboards. Post 16 teaching takes place in the Sixth Form block.
Arden's Modern Foreign Languages Department has much to offer each and every pupil throughout their time at the school.
Drama lessons are taught in the purpose built Drama Studio, equipped with lighting and sound technology. There is a second studio and the school hall where rehearsals and productions are held.
Music is taught in a purpose-built Performing Arts block with two large teaching rooms and seven practice rooms. The Department also has a recording studio with a separate control room.

In PSHE we aim to promote the highest standards of personal and interpersonal behaviour and contribute to offering the widest breadth of challenge and opportunity in a happy and caring environment.
